Douglas College Scholarships for International Students 2025 Canada

International students can apply for the Douglas College Scholarships for 2024-2025, which provide up to CAD 7,000 towards tuition costs for undergraduate studies. Each year, up to five qualified recipients will be selected.

Established in 2017, the Douglas College Scholarships aim to attract international undergraduate students who participate in sports activities. The scholarships help cover the tuition difference between international and domestic students.

The scholarship depends on the student’s academic performance and is distributed evenly between the Fall and Winter semesters. Douglas College is the largest public degree-granting college in British Columbia, with about 17,000 credit students, 8,500 continuing education students, and 4,210 international students enrolled.

Douglas College offers bachelor’s degrees, regular university arts and science courses, and career programs in healthcare, human services, business, and the creative arts. Founded in 1970, the college is named after Sir James Douglas, a former Governor of British Columbia. In 1981, Kwantlen College separated from Douglas College.

The college’s coat of arms, unveiled on January 21, 2020, was created by Coast Salish artist Carrielynn Victor for the college’s 50th anniversary. It is the first emblem in Canada’s history to be entirely designed by an Indigenous artist.

The emblem features a heart representing the college’s slogan, “Do what you love,” and a cedar crown symbolizing locally grown wood. A raven atop the crest signifies cleverness, surrounded by two Douglas fir trees that connect to the college’s name. Below the shield are the words “Excellence, Knowledge, Passion” in the Coast Salish language, acknowledging the college’s location on First Nations land.
