Program Overview:

The Fulbright Scholar Program provides a 12-month residency in the U.S., allowing scholars to conduct research, engage in academic collaborations, and share their expertise. Scholars will have access to U.S. university resources and are expected to share their culture and experiences with the academic community during their stay. Upon returning to Pakistan, they are encouraged to use their gained knowledge to benefit their communities and contribute to local development.

  • Specific Recommendations: Women and disabled individuals from AJK, KPK, Baluchistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Northern Sindh, and Southern Punjab are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Restrictions:
    • Dual U.S./Pakistani nationals are ineligible.
    • Applicants with a U.S. national spouse or U.S. national child over 18 years old cannot apply.
    • Those who have studied in the U.S. or are involved in long-term programs in the U.S. within the last five years are ineligible.
    • Employees and dependents of USEFP or the U.S. Department of State are not eligible.
    • Current U.S. work visa holders are ineligible.
  • Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate excellent command of the English language.

  1. Online Application: Complete the application through the online portal.
  2. Document Submission: Submit all application materials, including original documents and one copy, to USEFP.
  3. Application Instructions: Review and follow the “Application Instructions” carefully after logging in.
  4. Proposal: Prepare a clear, well-formulated proposal detailing your research goals in the U.S. and their relevance to your work in Pakistan.
  5. Invitation Letters: Obtain at least two invitation letters from U.S. universities. These can be submitted either with the application or after being shortlisted.
  6. Reference Letters: Include a reference letter from a professional familiar with your work and character.
  7. Completion: Answer all application questions thoroughly and ensure all documents are accurate before submission.
