The application process is online and there are different ways, depending on your situation. We have two deadlines for student exchanges:
Winter Semester (September to early February): March 30th
Summer Semester (March – mid-July): 30 October
Application Prerequisite
- Generally, there should be an exchange agreement between our university and your university; it could be as an Erasmus + agreement (EU countries) or a bilateral agreement (non-EU countries) before applying. Please contact the International Office at your local university to confirm. A few departments allow overseas “free movers” to complete a semester in Hamburg. Please see Applications in English to see where this works. Then an exchange agreement is not required.
- Students must register themselves at home university throughout the period of the interchange at HAW Hamburg and give proof of their student status.
